I've learned that my 99-year-old grandfather is truly awesome.
A few weeks ago, he was having a hard time breathing and had to be hospitalized for pneumonia. I learned this from an email from my dad and I thought to myself, "I've seen people 10 to 20 years younger than him die from pneumonia or, at least, take several weeks to recover. I should visit in case he doesn't pull through."
By the time we visited him, he had been in the hospital for about five or six days and he looked almost normal. He was discharged back to the nursing home the following day.
Yeah. That's right. My almost-100-year-old grandfather beat pneumonia after only a week in the hospital. This automatically makes him awesome, in my eyes at elast.
